PetSafe® Stubborn Dog Fence Collar Review

Designed specifically for stubborn and hard-to-train dogs, the PetSafe® Stubborn Dog Fence Collar works well with extra large dogs. With four levels of stimulation available, the collar uses static correction to mildly alert dogs when they reach the boundary of the fenced in area. The device is compatible with all PetSafe® in-ground fences, with the exception of UltraSmart® Rechargeable In-Ground Fences and YardMax® Rechargeable In-Ground Fences.

The collar also works with the PetSmart® Indoor Pet Barrier Transmitter, giving your pets added protection when you want them to stay in a predetermined area while indoors.

Designed for dogs 8 pounds and over, the collar is made of durable nylon material. The device has short contact points installed and works best with shorter-haired dogs, though you can buy longer contact points if needed for dogs with thicker coats. The collar and device are waterproof, and you can submerge them in up to 5 feet of water.

The device is powered by a 9-volt alkaline battery that lasts roughly for 3 months. The battery must be purchased separately. In addition to the static correction, the device also offers tone and vibration correction options.

It is important to remember that this device is meant for training stubborn extra large dogs. For this purpose, it has four independently adjustable levels of correction. You can also have multiple dogs on the same system, using the Stubborn Dog Fence Collar for larger pets and an appropriate collar for other size dogs on the same in-ground fence system.

Some of the complaints about the device include the fact that the contact points tend to come loose and fall off over time on some devices, as well as the short lifespan of the 9-volt batteries, which only last about a week before needing replacement.
