The SportDOG® SD-1825 Training Collar is designed for a variety of needs, including pet owners, obedience trainers, and hunters of a variety of game. Best of all, the SD-1825 is customizable, so you can change the systems setup to meet your specific needs.
This customization translates into the ability to change the stimulation settings on the transmitter to fit what you currently need. For example, while the transmitter does have the standard continuous, momentary, tonal, and vibration stimulation options, you also have the choice of low, medium, and high modes for both continuous and momentary stimulation. In addition, you can use tonal correction with a stimulation delay, tonal correction mixed with vibration, and a programmable hot button for continuous stimulation.
When in the field, the transmitter and receiver can operate at a range of up to 1 mile, though obstacles and terrain can affect this range. You can also control up to three dogs with just one transmitter, though controlling three dogs at one time lowers the versatility of the device. Both transmitter and receiver use rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries.
Using the charger that comes with the system, you can charge both receiver and transmitter within 2 hours. Both transmitter and receiver also have a low-battery indicator to let you know when it is time to recharge them.
The lightweight and compact collar fits snugly against your dog’s neck. Just use the receiver to make the changes to the stimulation levels for your dog, or multiple dogs in some cases. Then it is just a matter of pushing the corresponding button for a specific dog on the transmitter to apply the desired level of correction.
One drawback for the device is the lessened functionality when used to control three dogs at one time. When training three dogs, you only have access to eight levels of continuous or momentary correction compared to the normal 16.
